Bengal Tiger Lily

Discover how a free commercial waste audit can save money, improve sustainability and ensure legislative compliance

Project Summary

CLIENT:
Bengal Tiger Lily
INDUSTRY:
Hospitality & Leisure
SERVICES:
Commercial Waste Management

In March 2025, we began working with the owners of Bengal Tiger Lily, a popular Indian restaurant in Cheshire, known for its fantastic food, busy seven‑day schedule and loyal customer base. Our commercial waste management audit quickly uncovered potential savings and simple ways to both improve sustainability and ensure compliance with the new food waste legislation that came into effect in April 2025.

The Challenge

Like many hospitality businesses, Bengal Tiger Lily were facing challenges due to new legislation for food waste management. The deadline was looming and their existing commercial waste provider hadn’t made them aware of the new regulations, so they were at risk of significant fines. With more than 10 staff members and over five kilos of food waste being generated each week, the new legislation meant that the owners needed a reliable, compliant, and environmentally responsible solution.

The Results

Our first step was to carry out a comprehensive free audit of their operations. We examined the types of food waste being produced, the frequency of disposal, and how existing processes aligned with new government legislation.
Many businesses in the UK are still unaware of the full requirements around food waste, so part of our role was to provide clear guidance and reassurance.
Within days, we agreed a tailored plan and arranged for an appropriately sized food waste bin to be collected twice weekly. This ensured Bengal Tiger Lily met all regulatory obligations while also reducing the environmental impact of their operations.
By implementing this simple system, the restaurant achieved an 18% reduction in food waste sent to landfill within the first three months alone, while ensuring full compliance with government legislation.
This project demonstrates how small changes can deliver big results: compliance with legislation, improved sustainability, and a stronger reputation with customers who increasingly value sustainable practices.
